Leasing your website

Leasing your website is similar to leasing a business. The website remains your property, and the lessee takes over the day to day running’s.

That sounds good but how do we accomplish this. Well first we need access to your hosting control panel and we make a complete back up of your website. (Please note as an Australian company we are governed by the privacy provisions in the legislation, at anytime you may request that we remove your data and any copies of it that we have.) In some circumstances a secondary admin/manager user may need to be setup, this can allow for you to keep running the website whilst waiting for a Lessee to take interest.

Then we put together the information about your site to add to our profile section. This might take a few days, depending on what your website does and how we can get the data we need. The data we use is based on your sales, your statistics, your users and other information like backlinks, domain age etc.. etc..

If you are monetising the site via Adverts or Affiliates, we will need a list of all your current Media accounts. We don’t ask for your username or password just the company details who are supplying the adverts/links.

Depending on what type of website it is we might need to contact your wholesalers/dropshippers to see if they will facilitate the change of management.

If the website is user centric, it is nearly always a good idea, to have negotiations with the users before a change of management happens, this allows for a much smoother management transfer.

If the website is advertising based, such as Google Ads or other methods, then there is little to change as the Lessee will have to provide their own source code once the Lease begins. This will also apply to affiliate links.

A few things you will need to think about, the price of the lease what is your minimum monthly figure, what is your maximum figure.

Also you will need to think about and agree to the pre-purchase price. This price is set at the beginning of the Lease. It allows both sides to know what the agreeable value is of the website. If the lessee makes changes and increases the profit margin, that will not increase the value of the price.

Please bear in mind that the values you come up with are not necessarily the same values we will arrive at. Sometimes webmasters have a lot of time, effort and emotions in their websites. Unfortunately the values of a website aren’t based on future sales nor are they based on ideas and potential. They are based on previous sales, current sales, current active users and the type of traffic, with a little goodwill based on domain name and stature of the website
